ドラマで覚える英会話

フレンズからちょっと笑ってしまった場面を紹介します。
Rachelと妹のJillが口ゲンカしているのですが、本当に面白いです。

The One Where Chandler Can’t Cry

Jill: You’ll never believe what just happened, Ross just totally blew me off and he didn’t even tell me why!

Rachel: Oh well. Y’know what honey? The best thing to do to get over a guy is to start dating someone else.
Oh! There is this great guy you will love at work named Bob!
He’s a real up-and-comer in Human Resources.

Jill: ちょっと、信じられないかもしれないけど、Rossがデートキャンセルして理由も教えてくれないのよ！

Rachel: どうしてかわかる？男を忘れるのに一番効果的なことはね、他の人とデートすることよ。
あ！仕事場でボブって言う人いるけど、たぶん気に入ると思うわよ！
人事課で将来を約束されている人よ。

Jill: Y’know, thanks for trying to cheer me up, but I’m not gonna date some random guy from your work.

Rachel: It’s not random, it’s Bob.

Jill: 励ましてくれてありがとう、でもあなたの仕事場から適当に男の人選んでデートなんてしないからね。

Rachel:　適当に選んでないわよ、ボブよ。

Jill: It’s probably because not mature enough. Or smart enough.

Oh I’m so stupid! I’m just like this incredibly pretty stupid girl!

Jill: 恐らく（Rossが）大人に成りきっていないとか、賢くないからなんだわ。

私の服装がイヤなのかも

ー違う、そんなことあるはずないわ。　絶対に賢くないとかの理由よ。

あ～、なんて私バカなの！私、信じられないほどかわいくてバカな女なんだわ。

Rachel: No honey, okay, okay, you wanna know why Ross canceled the date? Because I asked him to.

Rachel: Because you are my sister and Ross and I have this huge history…

Rachel: 違うのよ、Rossがどうしてデートキャンセルしたか知りたい？　私が彼に頼んだからよ。

Jill:　あなたが彼にそう頼んだの？

Rachel: そう・・

Jill: なんで?

Rachel:だってあなたは私の妹だし、私とRossには大きな歴史（付き合った過去）があるから。

Jill: I don’t understand, do you want to go out with Ross?

Rachel: No.

Jill: 意味がわかんないわ, Rossとまた付き合いたいわけ?

Rachel: ううん.

Jill: You don’t want him, but you don’t want me to have him?

Rachel: Y’know Bob in Human Resources…

Jill: 彼はと付き合いあいたくないけど,私には彼とつきあってほしくないの?

Rachel: 人事課のBob・・・

Jill:Ugh! I cannot believe you did this too me!

Rachel: Look, this is not that big of a deal!
You just don’t date Ross! There’s a million other guys out there, you just…

Jill:（イライラしながら）信じられない！私にこんなことするなんて!

私に頭がよすぎるとか思わせといて!
服装のせいだとかまで思わせといて!

Rachel: ちょっと、そんなにおおげさなことじゃないわよ！
Rossとはデートしないの!そこら辺に星の数ほど男なんているじゃない,あなたただ・・・

Jill: Hey! You have no right to tell me what to do.

Rachel: I’m not telling you what to do! I am telling you what not to do!

Jill: ちょっと！あなたに私にどうこうしろなんていう資格ないわよ！

Rachel: そうしろなんてい言ってないわよ!するなって言ってるの!

Jill: Why are you so jealous of me?

Jill: Can’t have?! Excuse me, the only thing I can’t have is dairy!

Jill: どうしてそんなに私に嫉妬してるわけ?

Rachel: Jill 、これは嫉妬してるとかどうとかの問題じゃないのよ! あんたがガキかどうかってことよ!ダメなもの（手に入らないもの）を欲しがってるってことよ!

Jill: （have)ダメなもの?! ちょっと、私がダメなのは乳製品だけよ!

英会話表現と英単語

blew me off blow ～ off　は～をキャンセルすること。

get over～　～を忘れて 立ち直る。

Thank you for cheer me up. 励ましてくれてありがとう

not ～ enough 十分に～でない、という表現。
例） I am not hungry enough ( to eat.)
お腹が十分に空いてない。

the way I dress 直訳で私が服を着る仕方で「私の服装」と言う意味。

Because I asked him to. 文の一番後ろにtoがついてくるのは、toの後にcanceled the dateが隠れているため。

You had me doubting　私に疑わせといて
「have ～・・・ing」 ～に・・・させる

You have no right to tell me what to do.　あんたにそんなこと言われる筋合いないわ、という決まり文句。

brat ガキ、生意気、小僧、いたずらっこという意味。

最後にRachelが　Wanting what you can’t have!　「ダメなものを欲しがってるってことよ！」といいJillが　the only thing I can’t have is dairy!「私がダメなのは乳製品だけよ！」とケンカしながらジョークを言ってます。

have himは　彼を手に入れること、
I can't have dairy. は乳製品が苦手、食べられないと言う意味ですが
どちらもhaveを使っています。
