今回はblackoutについてお話。
英会話で使える英単語や表現がたくさん使われていますよ。
RACH: Wow, this is so cool, you guys.
The entire city is blacked out!
MONICA: Mom says it's all of Manhattan, parts of Brooklyn and Queens,
and they have no idea when it's coming back on.
RACH: Wow, you guys, this is big.
MONICA: (on the phone)
Pants and a sweater?
Why, mom? Who am I gonna meet in a blackout?
Power company guys? Eligible looters?
Could we talk about this later? OK.
PHOE: Can I borrow the phone?
I want to call my apartment and check on my grandma.
What's my number?
MONICA and RACH:??
PHOE: Well, I never call me.
和訳：
RACH: わあ～、みんなこれすごくない？
町全体が停電だよ。
MONICA: うちのお母さんがマンハッタン全体とブロックリンとクウィーンズの一部で
停電してて、いつ元に戻るかわからないって言ってたよ。
RACH: わあ、これってほんとにすごいことよね。
MONICA: （電話で）ズボンとセーター？
どうしてお母さん?停電中にだれと会うわけ?
電力会社の人たち?
結婚相手?
こういうことはあとで話さない? OK.
PHOE: その電話貸してくれる?
アパートに電話しておばあちゃんがどうしてるかチェックしたいの。
私の電話番号は何?
MONICA and RACH:??
PHOE:だって自分の家に電話なんてしないでしょ。

it's は電力のことをさしています。
＊Who am I gonna meet in a blackout?
gonnaはスラングでgoing toのこと。
普通writingではこういう書き方はしません。
＊What's my number?
電話番号はphone numberですが、短くnumberとも言います。
